The Williamstown Maritime Association & The Pirates Tavern
The Williamstown Maritime Association (WMA) is a non-profit organization that was formed in 2004 for the purpose of establishing a maritime precinct on what is now the Seaworks Site.
The WMA operates The Pirates Tavern for members and their guests and for the general public. The tavern has a true maritime feel about it and is one of the hidden gems of Melbourne.
The Pirates Tavern is a licensed venue and is open every Friday night from 6pm and every Saturday from 3pm till 6pm and every Sunday from 1pm until 6pm with the third Sunday of the month being our music Sunday featuring a live band. Live music is played in the Pirates Tavern every Friday night, during festivals or special events, tavern openings are often extended. Please check the Events page on www.wma.org.au for regular updates.
To comply with liquor licensing laws, all non-members must sign in. But if you are going to be coming down to the tavern regularly, consider taking out WMA membership. All proceeds from the tavern and WMA membership will go back into the development of Seaworks.
On the third Sunday of every month, the WMA holds a live music event at the Tavern. They are a mix of local bands and some of Melbourne’s top performers.
The Pirates Tavern is a great venue for special group or family events, such as birthday parties, company wind-ups and New Year’s Eve parties. So if you are looking for a unique place to hold that special event, contact the Tavern Manager s Wendy Pelns on 0403 702 734 or Veronica Hillhouse on 0422 162 177.
